
Baldwin City, Ks. – The Cottey College women's outdoor track & field team began their 2023 campaign at the Baker Relays hosted by Baker University this past Saturday.
Cottey's Madalenn Fee (freshman) kicked off the day's events in the long jump with a fourth-place finish setting the outdoor school record. Next, a team of Kiana Garcia (junior), Mikaela Fabey (sophomore), Tessa Feazel (freshman), Hannah Hayduk (freshman) finished second in the 4X 800M relay.
In the open 800m and 1500m runs, the Comets showed many great opening performances with times matching collegiate personal bests by Madalenn, Kiana, Kyndal Soukup (freshman) and Taylor Rechenmacher (sophomore).
Taylor quickly returned to the track for the 5000m run where she finished seventh overall. Lastly, Cottey's 4X 400-meter relay team finished off the day with a fifth-place finish.
Overall, the Comets tied for sixth place out of nine teams.
