Cottey College has announced the hiring of Cassandra Colon as its new assistant basketball coach, bringing a dynamic blend of playing experience, academic achievement, and mentorship to the Comets program.

Born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Colon's journey through collegiate athletics reflects both grit and purpose. She began her academic career at the Community College of Philadelphia, earning an associate degree in Criminal Justice before transferring to Georgetown College, where she completed her bachelor's in the same field. Her passion for basketball led her to South Carolina State University, where she competed at the Division 1 level while also earning a certificate in rehabilitation counseling.

On the court, Colon played under the guidance of Coach Timothy Eatman at South Carolina State, where she developed a reputation for toughness, leadership, and a team-first mentality. Her experience as a student-athlete under Coach Eatman's system has shaped her coaching philosophy—one rooted in discipline, empathy, and player development.

Colon now joins Coach Eatman the Comets with a mission to elevate the program's competitive edge while fostering a culture of accountability and growth. Coach Colon has begun her duties and looks forward to a great season!
