The Cottey Comets esports squad celebrated Senior Night on Tuesday evening. Ella Sapinoso, Lucy Liu, and Daphne Hedrick were each honored after the match. 

Ella Sapinoso is a Senior from Juneau, Alaska. She competed all four years for the Comets on all three squads within the esports team. Sapinoso was a consistent starter for the Overwatch and Valorant squads. She was a starter during the Fall 2023 NACE Divisional Valorant Championship season.

Lucy Liu is a Senior from Honolulu, Hawaii. Liu competed primarily in Valorant as a Captain, but also subbed in for Overwatch. Liu set most of the school record for Valorant, including Kills. She captained the squad to the first title in program history in the Fall 2023 NACE Divisional Valorant Championship season.

Daphne Hedrick is a Senior from Labette, Kansas. Hedrick was a three year member of the squad, after graduating from Fort Scott Community College. She competed primarily in Overwatch.

All three seniors have had a tremendous impact on the program, and we are very thankful for their contributions to the team!

As for the NACE SemiFinals for Overwatch, the Comets fell just short. Cottey would take the first two maps to take a commanding 2-0 lead, but Mid-America Christian would make some crucial substitutions that would turn the tide in a 3-2 contest. Overwatch matched their best season playoff run, while also setting a new high for regular season wins. The loss ends the esports program spring season.
