Comets Sweep the Coyotes

Game 1

 

The Comets relied on their defense in their come from behind victory in the first game of their double header against Kansas Wesleyan. The Coyotes' Sarah Sanders pushed across the first run of the game in the top of the 5th inning. It would be the only run Lacey Cruz would give up in the contest. The Coyotes would not hold onto the lead for long as Karina Ramirez and Lauren Johnson would bring in one run a piece in the bottom of the 5th.

Lacey Cruz would then shut down Kansas Wesleyan, recording 2 of her 7 strikeouts in the final frame of the contest. 

 

Game 2

 

The Comets hit 5 home runs to secure their 25th straight home victory. Kansas Wesleyan would open up the scoring in the 2nd inning with a single run off of a double by Emma Schumacher. Kristen Hurst for the Comets would answer right back with a solo home run.

The Coyotes went back to work in the third inning when Mia Hernandez singled to left field and scoring one run. Karina Ramirez would tie the game up for the Comets with a solo home run of her own to right centerfield. Then back to back solo home runs in the fourth inning by Aryana Palencia and Elizabeth Thomas would increase the lead to 4-2. 

 

Baylee Morris would add a very important insurance run with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. This would prove important as the Coyotes made the game interesting with a 2-run home run by Mia Hernandez in the top of the 7th. The Morris home run would be the deciding factor as the Comets defense was able to secure the win.
