Nevada, Mo. – The Cottey College basketball team took home their first conference win of the season against Central Baptist College 64-50 inside the Hinkhouse Center in Nevada, Missouri on November 19, 2022.   

Cottey (4-2) was led by Olivia Pruitt with 15 points.  Also going double digits for the Comets was Dally Coulter, with 11 points and Nicole Hagerman with 10 points.  Sara Montesdeoca led the Comets on the boards with 11 rebounds. Montesdeoca  also had 4 assists and 3 steals.    

Central Baptist College (2-2) was led by Caroline Citty (13 points and 4 steals) and Rhys Anderson (10 points).  Emma Bates led the Mustangs on the boards with 8 rebounds. 

Cottey jumped to an early 5-0 lead with a jump shot by Dally Coulter and a three pointer by Derin Akdeniz.  The Mustangs and Comets were back and forth the remainder of the quarter.  A three pointer by Nicole Hagerman put Cottey up heading into the second quarter 19-13.

The Comets cushioned their lead in the second quarter by holding the Mustangs to a measly 8 points.  The Comets tore a 16 point run to begin the second quarter, holding the Mustangs to zero points until a Rhys Anderson three pointer with 2:20 left in the half.  The Comets were 57% from the field to head into the half up 35-21.  

The Comets continued to outscore the Mustangs in the third quarter, 16-14.  A seven point run by the Mustangs early in the third quarter pulled them to within 7.  The Comets quickly answered back with a Nicole Hagerman three pointer and Dally Coulter jump shot, increasing their lead.  A Claudia Hadlock three pointer with 24 second left in the third quarter put the Comets up 51-35 heading into the final quarter.  

The Comets maintained their lead in the fourth quarter, cementing their first conference win 64-50.
