Hinkhouse Gymnasium has become something of a fortress for the Cottey College Basketball team. The Comets have only dropped one contest on the year, in overtime, and that home court advantage continued to lift the Comets on Saturday. The Comets took down the Harris-Stowe Hornets 73-52, led by Sarah Hunt's 22 points.
Hunt was joined in double figures by Autumn Wallace and Jya Barksdale, putting in 16 and 10 respectively. Claudia Hadlock returned to the starting lineup, putting in 7 points and 3 assists. Dally Coulter and Sara Montesdeoca were the leaders on the glass, gathering 4 rebounds apiece. The Comets controlled the game throughout, outscoring the Hornets 20-12 in the first quarter, and never letting the game come much closer.
The win elevated Cottey to 12-6 Overall, 4-4 in AMC play. They remain in 5th place in the standings, with the 4th place UHSP Eutectics coming to town for a Thursday evening contest. The Eutectics are 4-3 in conference action, with the conference's leading scorer Grace Beyer leading the way. Beyer was the AMC player of the year last season, and continues to be a prolific scorer, putting up 34.1 points per game.
Fans can catch the action at Hinkhouse at 5:30pm Thursday, or online at https://team1sports.com/cottey/
