Cottey Completes Road Trip Sweep

The Cottey College Basketball team spent some time in St. Louis this past week, coming home with two W's during the road trip. On Saturday afternoon, it was the Harris-Stowe Hornets the Comets were taking down. Cottey would take the contest 74-60.

Cottey was able to control the game from the opening tip, outscoring Harris-Stowe in three of four quarters, while tying the last quarter. Sarah Hunt was the leading scorer for the Comets, putting up 14 points in the game. She was joined in double figures by Autumn Wallace and Claudia Hadlock, who each pouring in 12 points. Wallace also completed the game with a double-double, grabbing 10 rebounds to lead Cottey on the glass. Hadlock would find her shooting stroke from beyond the arc, shooting 50% from 3-point land, while also adding 4 steals as a defensive leader on the court.

Two other Comets just missed out on double figures, with Dally Coulter and AuShae Farris each contributing 9 points in the contest. Jya Barskdale and Brecklen Morrison were great ball distributors, snagging 4 assists apiece. Akyria James played big on the day, being the leader in blocks for the Comets with two blocked shots. Cottey got contributions from all 11 players who saw action in the contest.

Cottey's record raises to 10-4 Overall, and 6-2 in American Midwest Conference play. The Comets have a homestand in the upcoming week, hosting Crowley's Ridge on Thursday and Williams Baptist on Saturday.
