Columbia College controlled the tilt between the American Midwest Conference schools almost the entire time, en route to a 69-49 final score. From the opening tip, it was a balanced attack from the Cougars, putting 7 players on the board with a bucket in the 1st quarter. They would lead 22-12 after one frame, and it continued like that for much of the contest. The Cougars would outscore the Comets in all four quarters, as they try to reclaim the top spot in the conference.
For the Comets, Sara Montesdeoca led the team in scoring, putting up 13 points. Autumn Wallace was the only other Cottey player in double figures, putting 12 points on the board, while grabbing 6 rebounds. Claudia Hadlock was the leading rebounder for the team, grabbing 7 defensive boards. Hadlock was also the team leader in assists, dishing out three.
The loss drops the Comets to 15-8 Overall, and 11-6 in American Midwest Conference play. The Comets sit in 5th, with a three game margin between themselves and 6th place William Woods. The Owls of WWU are the Comets next opponent, slated for a 5:30pm tipoff in Fulton, MO, on Tuesday.
