Golden's Final Tournament Shatters Comet Record Book

The 2024 Railwood Fall Open, hosted by William Woods University, proved to be a record shattering day for Senior Sara Golden.

Golden, on track to graduate this fall, saved her best performance as a Comet for last. Golden would shoot a 74-73 for a tournament total of 147, shattering her own previous record for low tournament total by eight strokes. Golden would also log the 2nd and 3rd best single round scores in program history during the tournament. Golden now owns the top 5 individual round scores in program history, and four of the top 5 tournament performances. Golden would finish 3rd in the tournament overall, while logging the top finish for an NAIA golfer. Golden, a Senior from Carthage, MO, closes out her final collegiate tournament in style. She has also made a significant impact on campus as well; serving as a Association of Student-Athletes officer, including as the American Midwest Conference AMC-ASA Vice Chair in 2023-24. Golden will graduate with dual degrees in Criminology and Organizational Leadership.

The Comets also had a Top 5 finish as a team. Senior Maddie Brennaman and Freshman Nora Schuh finished in a tie for 29th, and Freshman Savanah Topping finished in 38th place. This tournament was the final competition for the fall semester for the Comets. They now turn their attention to the spring championship season, honing skills over the winter before competition begins again.
