
Bolivar, Mo. – The Cottey College women's outdoor track & field team continued their 2023 campaign at the Bearcat Invitational hosted by Southwest Baptist University this past Saturday.
Sophomore Taylor Rechenmacher kicked off the day's running events in the 5000-meter run where she was able to shave 42 seconds off her time from last week with a performance of 22:25. Freshman Madalenn Fee competed in her first 1500-meter run of the season with a 12th place finish and time of 5:01.
Next, a squad of Cottey runners took to the track for the 800-meter dash. In the first heat, sophomore Mikaela Fabey came from behind with a race-winning kick and massive 7 second life-time personal record of 2:35. In the same heat, Kyndal Soukup (freshman) and Katie Wright (juniot) also ran personal record-breaking races with times of 2:47 and 3:01, respectively. In the second heat, freshman Hannah Hayduk added to Cottey's impressive showing with a 3rd place finish in her heat and a 3 second improvement in her personal record.
Finally, Kiana Garcia (junior) finished off the Cottey's day with her first ever attempt at the 3000-meter run on the track with a great performance of 11:38 and 19th place finish.
