Rose Howell brings a wealth of coaching experience to Cottey, and is in her 4th season leading the Comets. Highlights of Howell's Cottey tenure include a Cross Country Conference Championship in the Continental Athletic Conference (2021), multiple Conference Champions in Track & Field, and the program's first NAIA National Qualifier (2023). Athletes have broken over a dozen individual school records during her tenure as Coach of the Cross Country and Track & Field teams.
Prior to Cottey, Howell coached both men's and women's cross country and track teams at her alma mater, Nova Southeastern University. Prior to returning to her alma mater she coached at Purdue University Northwest and the University of La Verne.
Howell ran for the University of Georgia for one year before becoming a two time NCAA DII Cross Country National Championship Qualifier and a three time NCAA DII All-South Region honoree at Nova Southeastern. Coach Howell recieved her bachelor's in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University and a master's in Business, concentration in Management and Leadership from the University of La Verne. She currently resides in Nevada, Missouri.
