Comets Fall to Stars in AMC Conference Play

It was a slow start to American Midwest Conference play for the Cottey Comets Volleyball team, as they fell on the road at the Stephens Stars 1-3. The Stars controlled the first two sets with 25-21 and 25-16 margins, but Cottey came alive in the 3rd set to grab a 26-24 win in that frame. The Stars would make the final score official by way of a 28-26 final set. 

Tatum Marang was the offensive leader for the Comets with 10 Kills in the match, while also adding 14 Digs. Magdalen Dougherty had 20 Digs to lead the defensive side, putting up 7 Kills of her own. Senior Staley Stallaby was the maestro of the offense, dishing out 17 Assists from the Setter position. Freshmen Madysen Trobough and Gracie Mead added 8 and 6 Kills respectively as they gain valuable experience for the first time at the collegiate level.

The Comets fall to 5-11 Overall, and 0-1 in AMC conference play. Next up for the Comets is a Home match with Columbia College on September 26th. Blue Out is the theme for the game, with sno-cones set to be given out to fans pregame. Action is slated to start at 6pm.
