Comets Volleyball Goes 1-2 on the Week

The Cottey Comets Volleyball team had a mixed bag during their run of home games this week. The Comets ended up 1-2 during those contests, taking down Ozark Christian in non-conference play.

The two losses were to two conference opponents in Mission University and Central Baptist. Against Mission, Magdalen Dougherty provided the spark for the offense putting up 8 Kills to lead the team. The Comets would take the 2nd set of the contest, but ultimately fall to the new American Midwest Conference foe in four sets. Against Central Baptist it was once again Dougherty leading the charge with 9 Kills, while Freshman Madysen Trobough chipped in 9 Kills of her own. Trobough and Senior Laurencia Botts logged 2 Service Aces apiece to keep the Comets rolling. Cottey would take the first set in dominating fashion, but could not recapture that form in the next three sets. The visiting Mustangs took the contest 3-1.

On Saturday, the Comets had their annual Dig Pink tradition, honoring those close to players and coaches with a Cancer Awareness event. In addition to pink attire, the Comets passed out tiny volleyballs to friends and family in the crowd who have been impacted by cancer.

The Comets record now stands at 6-14 Overall, and 0-4 in AMC Conference play. The Comets have a few days off before returning to action at Home next Friday, October 11th against Manhattan Christian in a 6pm contest.
