Marla Kannaday Foreman completed her 21st year as the Head Coach of the Comets Volleyball program, which she started in 2000. The Comets finished in the top half of the A.I.I. Conference and had 2 players named to the All-Conference Teams. She notched her 200th career win at Cottey in 2019 and continues to extend the department's career wins record for all sports.
Coach Foreman played every sport offered at Lamar high school (Missouri) and had an incredible high school career on and off the court. She was recruited for basketball, where she played for 4 years at Missouri Southern State University. The highlight of her career came when her 1985-86 teams won the conference championship in back to back years. She followed up her successful run as a player as a student assistant for the basketball team at MSSU and then continued coaching at Bronaugh and Sheldon High Schools before starting the volleyball program at Cottey. Foreman also takes on the important administrative duties for the basketball and softball programs during her off-season.
Last season Foreman had a player named to the NAIA A.I.I. All-Conference 1st Team and another player named to the A.I.I. All-Conference 2nd Team. Her teams are widely known to have a strong academic mindset and have been successful in the classroom over her 20 years of coaching at Cottey. Her team has been nationally recognized by the NJCAA for their team grade point average 11 times. She’s coached five NJCAA All-Academic First Team members, six NJCAA All-Academic second team members, and one NJCAA All-Academic third team member.
Marla is married to Chet Foreman and they reside in Walker, Missouri. Her daughter Regan had a successful volleyball career at Cottey before getting her nursing degree from Cox College in Springfield, Missouri.
