Fee's Runner of the Week Performance Powers Comets to Billy Mills Classic Title

The Cottey College Comets Cross Country squad picked up their win of the year at the Billy Mills Classic in Lawrence, KS over the weekend. Junior Madalenn Fee led the way with a school record 17:48 time in the 5k event. That time was a new school record, cementing herself at the top of the record book, as well as winning the American Midwest Conference Runner of the Week award for the 3rd time this season.

The Comets also had Avery Morris and Kate Soukup finish in the top 10 of the event, taking 6th and 10th places respectively. Joliette Johnson was just behind in 11th place, putting on a strong showing in a sub-20 minute time. The fifth scoring Comet was Senior Mikaela Fabey, who finished in 17th place. Those performances did enough to claim the team title in the event by a single point. The Comets beat out Baker University for the title, a razor thin margin between the two schools.
