The weather was surprisingly warm for a late November outdoor meet, but that did not phase Comet Madalenn Fee as she took the starting line for the NAIA Cross Country National Championships. Fee would have the best race of her career, clockin in at 22:02.3 and taking 46th place. That time was good enough to once again break her own 6k cross country school record, as well as mark the highest ever individual finish in program history.
Fee's experience on the course was a clear advantage, as she was able to come out strong and remain in the first pack of runners nearly the entire race. About halfway through the race, less than 20 seconds separated the leaders from Fee. The competition was fierce, and in the end Taylor University Freshman Jaynie Halterman would take the individual title. The Master's University would have a thrilling come from behind one point victory over Taylor for the team title.
This marks the end of the Cross Country season for the Cottey Comets, with Indoor Track and Marathon competitions up next on the docket.
